'Hartford, Conn. - The Keene State men's lacrosse team suffered
its first loss of the season on Wednesday, a 9-6 non-conference
setback to Trinity College at Jessee/Miller Field. Junior attackman
Curtis Kahn (Cohasset, Mass.) led the Bantams with three goals and
four assists. Trinity improves to 4-3 overall and snaps a two game
skid, while the Owls falls to 6-1.
Keene got on the board first with sophomore Ryan Hazelton
(Chester, NH.) scoring the first of his three goals, at the 6:43
mark of the first quarter. Trinity went on to score seven
unanswered goals, including three by Kahn. During that span,
sophomore attackman Kris Tedeschi (Norwell, Mass.) also tallied a
goal and an assist. The Owls cut the lead to 8-6 with 2:17 to
play on a goal by Tony Santa Fe (Derry, N.H.), but senior
midfielder Chad Burdette (Owings Mills, Md.) secured the win for
the Bantams with his second tally of the day at 14:27 mark of the
final quarter. Trinity's final goal was scored into an open net.
Mike Fontaine (Wolfeboro, N.H.) and Peter Lauranzano (Beverly,
Mass.) also scored for Keene State. Lauranzano added three assists.
Bantam senior captain Jakob Isbrandtsen (Greenwich, Conn.) made
nine saves in goal, while sophomore Matt Johnson (Derry, NH.)
stopped six shots for Keene.
"We came out real flat, but the team showed a lot of character
coming back, said KSC Coach Mark Theriault. "We just ran out
of time."
Keene State returns home to face UMass-Boston on Saturday (1
p.m.).
