'KEENE, N.H. 4/24/07 - Tony Santa Fe (Derry, N.H.) had
four goals and Ryan Hazelton (Chester, N.H.) finished with three
goals and three assists to lead the Keene State College men's
lacrosse team to a 16-5 non-conference victory over Assumption
College Tuesday night at Owl Athletic Complex.
With the win, the Owls (12-0), ranked 22nd in this week's USILA
poll, set a program record for consecutive wins and are just one
game shy of tying the school record for wins (13) set last season.
Fours were wild for the Owls, who scored four goals in each
quarter. Leading 2-1, KSC finished the fourth quarter with
goals from Hazelton and Peter Lauranzano (Beverly, Mass.).
After the Greyhounds cut the lead to 4-2 on a goal by Mike Molk
(Danvers, Mass.) early in the second quarter Sean Panora (South
Windsor, Conn.) answered with a goal and Santa Fe scored three
consecutive times to give KSC an 8-2 halftime lead. Santa Fe leads
the Owls in scoring (28-25-53).
Lauranzano scored three goals and Panora finished with two goals
ands four assists for KSC, who also got a pair of goals from Taylor
Morasutti (Cheshire Conn.) and single goals from Jamie LeSage
(Exeter, N.H.) and Rodney Arganese (Trumbull, Conn.).
Matt Klaskin (Norfolk, Mass.) and Peter Reynolds (Hamden, Conn.)
had two goals each for Assumption (3-10).
KSC goalie Matt Johnson, who at one point in the second quarter
raced down the field and almost got an assist, finished the game
with 15 saves. Chris Bird (North Andover, Mass.) stopped nine shots
for the Greyhounds.
KSC completes its regular season on Saturday at Southern Maine
(1 p.m.).
