WALTHAM, MASS.10/26/08 - The Keene State men finished second and
the Owl women placed fourth at the Bentley College Swim
Invitational on Sunday.
KSC tallied 98 points in the eight-team men's competition.
The Owls had 75 points in the nine-team women's field.
Southern Conn. claimed both men's (144 points) and women's (145
points) team titles.
Sophomore diver Tim Thornton (Fairfield, Conn.)
led the KSC men with a first place finish in the one-meter event
(222.25 points) and a second place performance in the three-meter
board (209.65 points).
Sophomore Dan Theleen (Southbury, Conn.) was
second in the 1,000 free (10:14.57) and third in the 200 back
(2:07.28). Sophomore Karl Balinski
(Waterford, Conn.) placed second in the 50 free (23.05), sophomore
Dan Morse (Hope, R.I.) was third in the 500 free
(5:04.00), and freshman Ramsey Haddad (Barrington,
R.I.) took third in the 100 free (48.85).
Sophomore Connor Pennoyer (Norwalk, Conn.),
freshman Colin Daly (Cromwell, Conn.), junior
Domingo Rose (Nashua, N.H.), and Balinski combined
to placed third in the 400 medley relay (3:48.32).
Keene State lone win in the women's field came in the 400 free
relay with junior Jackie Foster (Bedford, N.H.),
sophomore Alea Paddock (Newbury, N.H.), and
freshmen Maureen O'Leary (Nashua, N.H.) and
Jillian Whitaker (Gilford, N.H.) posting a time of
3:53.72.
In other races, junior Kristine Trutor (Holden,
Mass.) was second in the 200 back (2:18.14), and Whitaker placed
third in the 50 free (26.70).
Keene State hosts Colby-Sawyer next Saturday.
