DANBURY, CT (Apr. 12) - The #18 ranked Keene State College men's
lacrosse team remained undefeated (7-0, 4-0 LEC) with a 14-5 Little
East Conference victory over Western Conn. State in Danbury, Conn.
on Saturday.
Leading the attack for Keene State were Josh Nugent
(Cheshire, Conn.) and Tony Santa Fe (Derry, NH) who each scored
four goals. Ryan Hazelton (Chester, NH) and Casey Brodersen
(Derry, NH) each contributed two goals for the victorious
Owls. Peter Lauranzano (Beverly, MA) led Keene State in
assists with three.
Keene State wasted no time taking the lead with an
unassisted goal by Michael Fontaine (Wolfeboro, NH) less than two
minutes into the game. Nugent and Santa Fe scored six of the
Owls' next eight goals leaving little doubt about the game's
result.
Keene State struck first in the second half with two goals
to take an 11-1 lead, but WestConn scored the next three goals to
win the third period by a 3-2 score. Santa Fe scored his
third and fourth goals to open the fourth period and Keene State
cruised to victory and a final score of 14-5.
Matt Johnson (Derry, NH) finished the game with 20 saves
for the Owls. Kyle Wood stopped 13 shots for the Colonials (7-5,
2-2 LEC).
KSC plays a key regional game at Williams on Tuesday (6:30 p.m.).
