WORCESTER, MASS. 9/23/09. - The visiting Keene State Owls scored
four unanswered goals in the second half to post a 4-1
non-conference women's soccer win over host Clark University at
Granger Field on Wednesday.
Winners of four out of the their last five games, the Owls
improve to 6-2, while the Cougars go to 3-4.
Clark took a 1-0 lead into halftime on a goal from
Molly Meehan (Scotch Plains, N.J.) at the 31:15
mark.
However, the second half, however, proved to be all Keene State,
starting with a goal from senior Kendra Spencer (Petosky,
Mich.) at 46:20 to even the game.
Junior Katie Bradford (Lebanon, N.H.) scored
her sixth goal of the season seven minutes later to give the Owls
the lead for good. KSC's final two goals came seconds apart as
Molly Brunelle (Walpole, N.H.) and Jaclyn
Grant (Newington, Conn.) each found the back of the net.
"We turned things around in the second half and got four nice
goals," said KSC Coach Denise Lyons.
The Owls held a sizeable advantage in shots (17-7), including an
8-3 edge in the second half.
Sophomore goalie Meghan Dempsey (East Weymouth,
Mass.) turned away four shots for Keene State, while
Joanna Clark (Windham, Maine) made four saves for
the Cougars.
The Owls return home to play Eastern Connecticut in a key Little
East Conference game on Saturday.
