Box Score KEENE, N.H. 3/27/10 – The Keene State College
men's lacrosse team snapped a three-game losing streak with a
17-8 non-conference victory over Lasell College at chilly Owl
Athletic Complex on Saturday.
Keene State (3-4) scored early and often, jumping out to a 6-1
lead at the end of the first quarter. Freshman James
Galloway (Simsbury, Conn.) netted two of the Owls'
six goals.
After the Lasers (1-5) cut the lead to 7-3, KSC answered with
the next four goals to go up 11-3 when freshman Ian
Hart (Richmond, N.H.) found the back of the net.
“It was a great response after the Bowdoin game. We
were more focused and revitalized as a team,” said KSC Coach
Mark Theriault. “Our goal is to win
our remaining games and keep the ball rolling.”
Sophomore Griffin Meehan (Simsbury, Conn.) had
four goals and two assists for the Owls, who won 18 of the 27
face-offs. Sophomore Matt Schairer (Wrentham,
Mass.) and Galloway each had three goals while sophomore
Matt Crimmins (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.) finished
with two goals.
Senior Brian Yepez (Hillsborough, N.H.) netted three goals for
Lasell, who scored six of its goals on man-up opportunities.
Freshman Andy Puopolo (Duxbury, Mass.) scored twice while junior
Chris Bulkley (Groton, Conn.) chipped in with four assists.
Junior Alec Corliss (Waltham, Mass.) made four
saves for the Owls.
Junior Eric Walsh (Weymouth, Mass.) played the first half in
goal for the Lasers and stopped five shots. Freshman Tyler
Silliman (Windsor, Conn.) made eight saves in the third and fourth
quarters.
Keene State travels to Conn. College on Tuesday. The
Camels are 6-0 and are ranked fifth in New England. Lasell
hosts Trinity College on Wednesday.
