Box Score KEENE, N.H. 4/10/10 – Sophomore Matt Schairer
(Wrentham, Mass.) scored four goals to lead the Keene
State College men's lacrosse team to a 10-4 Little East
Conference victory over Salem State College at Owl Athletic Complex
on Saturday.
Keene State evened its record at 5-5 and remains undefeated
(2-0) in LEC play. Salem State (6-3, 1-1 LEC) saw its four game
winning streak come to and end.
The Owls led 4-2 at the end of the first quarter and 6-2 at
halftime.
In the third quarter, KSC went up 8-2 on a breakaway goal by
freshman J.T. Galloway (Simsbury, Conn.).
Salem State defender Jonathan Harmon (Milford, Mass.) scored
following an interception to make it 8-4 at the end of three
quarters.
The Vikings had an opportunity to close the gap, but were unable
to score during a two-man up opportunity at the start of the fourth
quarter. Freshman Taylor Jette (Simsbury,
Conn.) scored two insurance goals for KSC later in the
quarter to account for the final score.
Galloway had two goals and sophomore Griffin Meehan
(Simsbury, Conn.) and junior Ryan Shairs (Beverly,
Mass.) also found the back of the net for KSC.
Freshman Ryan Gendreau (Danvers, Mass.), senior Justin Jones
(Danvers, Mass.), and Jonathan Falls (Seekonk, Mass.) scored single
goals for Salem.
Freshman Jason Lesser (Brewster, N.Y.) finished
the game with eight saves for the Owls. Junior Brendan Gill
(Chelmsford, Mass.) stopped 16 shots for the Vikings.
Keene State plays a key LEC game at Eastern Conn. on Friday.
Salem State is at MIT on Wednesday.
