Box Score

ROCHESTER, N.Y.  9/4/10 – Overtime was the name of the game at the Rochester Institute of Technology's Rachel Miller Memorial Women's Soccer Tournament on Saturday.

Keene State (1-0-1) played to a scoreless draw against Cortland State (0-1-1).  However, the Owls bested the Red Dragons 3-1 in penalty kicks to advance to Sunday's championship game at 11:30 a.m.  KSC will play host RIT (1-0) who edged John Carroll (OH) University 2-1 on an overtime goal by Shelby Vakiener.

"We played hard for the entire 110 minutes," said KSC Coach Denise Lyons.  "Megan Dempsey (East Weymouth, Mass.) was great in goal and kept us in the game."

Sophomore Joan Hamel (Weare, N.H.), freshmen Jessica Berthiaume (Worcester, Mass.) and Brittany Boscarino (Ellington, Conn.) netted penalty kick goals for the Owls.

Keene State had a slim edge in shots (15-14) and corner kicks (6-5).  Dempsey finished the game with eight saves.  Pam Monnier stopped six shots for Cortland.

Cortland will face John Carroll in Sunday's consolation contest (9 a.m.)
