New London, Conn. 10/28/11 – Rebounding after being swept Thursday night, the Keene State College women's volleyball team dropped Stevens Institute of Technology 3-0 (25-19, 27-25 and 25-19) on Friday night at Connecticut College.
With the win, the Owls improve to 17-11 on the season, while the loss drops the Ducks to 15-20 on the campaign.
"This match had a little bit of everything in it," said KSC head coach Bob Weiner. "At the end of the match we went to freshman Kendall Desrosiers and she ran off a couple of kills and blocks for us. It was a good win."
Senior outside-hitters Bridget O'Bryant (Merrimack, N.H.) and Kristen Girard (Red Hook, N.Y.) each had 15 digs in the victory, with O'Bryant leading the way with a team-high nine kills.
Middle blockers Ellyse Davis (Londonderry, N.H.) and Alex Lehocky (Edgewood, N.M.) had eight and four kills respectively for KSC. Lehocky also pitched in with a team-high three service aces.
Pacing the Owls offense, senior setter Laurie Whalen (Niantic, Conn.) had 29 assists.
Freshman libero Sammy Dormio (Leesburg, Virginia) also played well, finishing the non-conference victory with nine digs of her own.
Keene State concludes their regular season tomorrow morning, as they will face Tufts University, who is ranked fourth in the New England Region, at 1:30 p.m. at Conn. College.
