BOSTON, Mass. 12/10/11 – Keene State College senior Derek D'Amours (Agawam, Mass.) came off the bench to score 25 points in only 22 minutes of action, as the Owls rolled past UMass Boston 89-65 in Little East Conference play on Saturday afternoon at the Clark Athletic Center.

When asked if D'Amours would crack the starting lineup, KSC head coach Rob Colbert thinks that role will become more permanent for him. "It's really funny because we tried that last year and he struggled with it," said Colbert. "Ability-wise he is one of the best players in the league but the nice part is we are putting him in when most teams are taking their starters out. Having him come off the bench really gives us a big punch and keeps us going."

Also hitting double-digits for the Owls, junior forward Eric Fazio (Hopewell Junction, N.Y.) had 13 points, while Montell Walcott (New Haven, Conn.) and Ryan Martin (Wayne, Maine) each finished with 11 points.

KSC outrebounded the Beacons 48-28 on the game by sending a good amount of guys to the glass. "In particular I thought (Nicco) DeMasco  did a special job of rebounding well in traffic," said Colbert. "For a couple of games in a row now he has been blocking out bigger guys and going up a getting those rebounds."

DeMasco finished the game with six rebounds, while Fazio and senior Ollie hunter (Bedford, N.H.) finished with eight and seven rebounds respectively.

Also filling out the stat-sheet for the Owls, junior Anthony Mariano (Naugatuck, Conn.) had seven points, six assists and five rebounds in the victory.

Senior Isaac Jenkins (Pordenone, Italy) and freshman Vinny DeLucia (Miami, Florida) each finished with 15 points to lead the Beacons in scoring. Freshman Brian Clarke (Miramar, Florida) had eight rebounds to go with eight points in the losing effort.

The Owls return to action next Sunday, as they will head down to Fort Lauderdale, Florida to take place in the Cruzin' Classic. On Sunday they will take on Mount Saint Vincent, and follow that up with a game against Nova Southeastern on Monday afternoon.
