KEENE, N.H. 12/10/11 – Sophomore swimmer Drew Ledwith (Keene, N.H.) won three events, as the Keene State College men's swimming and diving team cruised to a 149-132 victory over Roger Williams on Saturday afternoon in the Pool at Spaulding Gymnasium.
In his first event of the day, Ledwith beat the field in the 100 backstroke in a time of 54.45. The local sophomore came back to win the 200 back in a time of 1:57.16 and finished off the day by swimming the 500 free in a time of 4:38.43.
Earning multiple victories, junior Marc Marois (Derry, N.H.) won the 1,000 free (10:19.98) and the 200 breast (2:16.52). Sophomore James Black (Lynn, Mass.) won the 50 (21.75) and the 100 free (48.15), while freshman Randy Dunton (Saint Cloud, Florida) took the 200 fly (2:02.58) and the 100 IM (56.09).
Junior Austin Harris (Essex Junction, VT) and sophomore Dan Oliveira (Ludlow, Mass.) each earned victories as well. Harris won the 200 free in a time of 1:48.92, while Oliveira beat the field in the 100 fly hitting the finish in 54.62.
In the diving events, senior Derek Peabody (Haverhill, Mass.) won the three meter dive with 197.40 points, while junior Josh Tuller (Plainview, N.Y.) finished right behind him with a tally of 185.75.
It was senior day at the pool for the men's team, as the senior class of Chris Avery (Merrimack, N.H.), Peabody and Ian Watters (Jamestown, R.I.) all received a nice round of applause for their careers at Keene State.
The Owls will compete again in 2012, as they will head to Fort Lauderdale, Florida and compete in two meets over the break. On January 3rd they will compete in the Mike Pepe 1 Meter Diving Meet and on January 6th they will swim in the Bob Mowerson Sprint Meet.
