Box Score

KEENE, N.H.  9/25/12 –Junior Hayley Kenyon (Exeter, R.I.) scored two goals to lead Keene State College to a 5-0 shutout victory over Johnson and Wales University in non-conference women's soccer action at Owls Athletic Complex on Tuesday night.

It was the third straight win and second consecutive shutout for the Owls (4-5).  Johnson and Wales falls to 3-6.

Kenyon scored her goals on the Owls first two shots of the game.  Taking a cross from junior Brittany Boscarino (Ellington, Conn.), Kenyon flicked a header into the far corner to give the Owls a 1-0 five minutes into the game.

Kenyon struck again seven minutes later when she converted a crossing ball from sophomore Alex Haley (Laconia, N.H.) for her team leading seventh goal of the season.  "We came out strong in our last home game and I wanted to repeat it," said Kenyon.  "We were in a slump at the start of the season, but we're   coming together now."

Keene State added three unanswered goals in the second half.  Junior Jessica Berthiaume (Worcester, Mass.) dribbled in from the left side and scored her third goal of the season just 38 seconds into the half to make it 3-0.

Junior Kristen Huckins (Westmoreland, N.H.) set up Boscarino for a goal extending the Owls' lead to 4-0 at the 51:57 mark.

Freshman Shannon Summers (Keene, N.H.) outraced a couple of Wildcat defenders to score her fist college goal to complete the scoring.  "The ball hit the side of my head.  I was able to get to my feet. There was a footrace and I was able to get it by the goalie," said Summers, who said her parents and some friends from high school were there to see her goal.  "It's exciting to get my first goal."

Keene State controlled play from the opening whistle, outshooting JWU by a wide 27-4 margin.

Sophomore Torrie Crenson (North Salem, N.Y.) started in goal and made two saves for the Owls.  Freshman Kathryn Hoar Plymouth, Mass.) played the final 13:15 and didn't register a save.

Both Wildcat freshman goalies were busy between the poles.  Cassie Collins (Oswego, N.Y.)  played the first half and made five saves.  Alexa Rose (Lancaster, Pa.) took over in the second half and stopped eight shots.
