Box Score

KEENE, N.H. 9/29/12 – The Owls are on a roll.  The Keene State College women's soccer team extended its winning streak to five games with a 5-0 shutout victory over rival Plymouth State University in a Little East Conference game played at Owl Athletic Complex on Saturday.

After starting the season 1-5, Keene State (6-5, 2-1 LEC) moved back over the .500 mark since the first game of the season.  Plymouth State (2-7, 0-3 LEC) has dropped four out of its last five games.

Dominating play from the opening whistle, Keene State got on the board at the 18:02 mark of the first half.  Senior Brittany Croteau (Swanzey, N.H.) corralled a loose ball from just outside the box and drove it into the far right corner of the net to give the Owls a 1-0 lead.  It was Croteau's second goal of the season.

Junior Brittany Boscarino's (Ellington, Conn.)  sixth goal of the season made it a 2-0 game five minutes later.  She took a crossing ball from junior Hayley Kenyon (Exeter, N.H.) and beat PSU senior goalie Chelsea Duval (Dover, N.H.) with a shot just inside the post.

Junior Jessica Berthiaume (Worcester, Mass.) completed the first half scoring with her fifth goal of the season.  Settling the ball just inside the box, Berthiaume turned and fired a shot that hit off the cross bar and fell into the net to give the Owls a 3-0 halftime lead.  "I didn't know if it was going in.  I'm just glad it did bounce in," said Berthiaume.  "We're clicking really well the past few games."

Duval made the save of the game early in the second half when she came of the net and just got a hand on Kenyon's breakaway bid.

The Owls found the back of the net two more times in the second half.  Amber Pelletier (Coventry, Conn.), a sophomore transfer from Western, Conn., go her first goal for the Owls at the 51:17 mark.   Kenyon completed the scoring for KSC at the 62:17 mark, when she redirected a cross from junior Beverly Cole (Madbury, N.H.) into the net for her sixth goal of the season.  "I slid and hit it back corner," said Kenyon. "I had a few chances earlier where I got unlucky.  The goalie made some good saves and I needed to put one in."

"We had a slow start, but we've been working really well together and I think it's coming together for us .  We can only go uphill," Kenyon added.

Keene State had a wide 33-2 advantage in shots and corner kicks (6-0).
Sophomore Torrie Crenson (North Salem, N.Y.) and Kathryn Hoar  (Plymouth, Mass.) shared the shutout in goal for the Owls.  Crenson played the first 66:40 and made two saves. Hoar didn't register a save in her 23:20 between the pipes.

Duval had a busy day in goal for the Panthers, finishing with 15 saves.

KSC is 19-0-1 against PSU.  The Panthers last beat the Owls in 1998.

Both teams return to action on Tuesday, Keene State host Framingham State (4 p.m.) while Plymouth State travels to Salem State (6 p.m.).
