Owls rout Beacons 20-4

KEENE, N.H. 4/17/13 – Senior Taylor Jette (Simsbury, Conn.) tied his season high with five goals and freshman Tyler McKelvie (Acton, Mass.) found the back of the net four times, lead Keene State College to a 20-4 rout over UMass-Boston in Little East Conference men's lacrosse action at Owl Athletic Complex on Wednesday afternoon.

Winners of four straight, the Owls (10-2, 4-0 LEC) remain undefeated in league play and on top of the Little East standings.   UMass-Boston (4-10, 1-3 LEC) saw its tow game winning streak come to an end.

Keene State scored early and often on the way to taking a 5-0 lead at the end of the first quarter.  The senior trio of Ian hart (Richmond, N.H.), Jette and Chris Dosch (Clinton, N.Y.) scored consecutive goal in a span of two minutes as KSC opened up a 4-0 lead.  Sophomore Curt Sarafini's (Westford, Mass.) fifth goal of the season final two minutes extended the lead to 5-0.

Keene State's defense held the Beacons to no shots on goals in the first quarter.

The Owls outscored UMB 4-1 in the second quarter to take a 9-1 halftime lead.  Jette scored three of his five goals in the quarter. 

Keene State put the game away with six more goals in the third quarter to go up 15-2. 

Several reserve players got ample playing time for KSC.  Freshmen Brain Boucher (Billerica, Mass.) and Matt Parson (Glen falls, N.Y.) each had two goals.  Senior JT Galloway (Simsbury, Conn.) and Zach Tulley (Hampstead, N.H.) also scored for the Owls.

Sophomore John Powers (Marshfield, Mass.) had two of UMass-Boston's four goals in the game.

Freshman Alex Sharp (Winchester, Mass.) played the first three quarters in goal for KSC and made five saves.  Sophomore Eric Palmer (Hinesburg, Vt.) took over in the fourth quarter and stopped three shots.

Senior Henry Bristol (South Hadley, Mass.) had a busy day in goal for the Beacons, finishing with 18 saves.

Keene State hosts UMass-Dartmouth on Saturday (3 p.m.)
