Women's Soccer Nets Six Against Rhode Island College

Box Score

KEENE, N.H.--Katelyn Bottis had two goals and an assist to lead the Keene State College women's soccer team to a 6-0 win over Rhode Island College in Little East Conference action on Saturday at Owl Athletic Complex.

The Owls improve to 7-3-2, and 3-1 in the Little East Conference, while the Anchorwomen fall to 1-11, and 0-4 against the LEC.

Keene State wasted no time in getting on the board, scoring 44 seconds into the match when Brittany Tolla raced down the left side, and cross the ball into the box, where Patricia Norton got just enough of a touch to lay the ball off for Ellen Granata, who tapped in from point blank range for her fourth of the season.

In the 10th minute, the Owls made it 2-0 when Natalie Roca rattled the crossbar from 25 yards out, and the ball fell nicely to Shannon Summers, who scored for the third consecutive game, and the fifth time in five games.

Katie Silegy set up Bottis for her first career goal in the 19th minute, and Morgan Kathan, scorer of the winning goal in overtime against Worcester State earlier in the week, got in on the action when she received a through ball from Kali Santino and curled an effort around RIC goalie Katherine Haley.

Bottis laid off a pass for Silegy to score in the 39th minute, and the freshman wrapped up the scoring five minutes before halftime with a looping effort over Haley's head.

The freshman had chances to complete the hat-trick in the second half, when her free kick was tipped around the post in the 82nd minute, and her head was off the woodwork in the 86th.

Keene State outshot the Anchorwomen 21-3.  Haley finished with nine saves.   Danielle Warhall played the first half and did not have to make a stop for Keene State.  Kathryn Hoar played the second half and was required to make one stop.

The win was No. 349 in the career of KSC head coach Denise Lyons; The Owls will go in seach of No. 350 when they welcome No. 19 Amherst College to town on Tuesday night for a 7 p.m. start.  Rhode Island College hosts Fitchburg State University on Wednesday at 6 p.m.
