Worcester, MA —The Keene State swimming and diving teams continued their season Saturday at the New England Invitational at WPI.
The meet was non-scored, but featured teams from all over New England including Assumption College, WPI, RPI, Wellesley, Wesleyan University, Tufts University, Roger Williams and Simmons College.
For the Owls, the team of Brianna Laliberte, Corrina Nickerson, Amber Long and Alison Bartlett won the 400 medley relay in 4:05.88. Bartlett also came out on top in the 50 freestyle, with a season-best time of 23.87, which is an NCAA "B" cut.
"I am very excited about my 50 freestyle," Bartlett said. "I am also very surprised, I didn't expect to go this fast this early or to have gotten a B cut before I've suited up and tapered. Hopefully I'm on track to go even faster than I did last season."
On the men's side, Greg Youngstrom (21.15) and Ryan Boraski (21.52) got first and second, respectively, in the 50 freestyle. Senior Matthew Ahlberg won the 500 freestyle in 5:00.09, leading the race from start to finish. Youngstrom and Boraski then paired with Chris Barriss and Cole Hogg to take the win in the 400 freestyle relay.
"I think our team showed a lot of mental fortitude today after a long week of training and a hard meet last night. We had some physically changeling but good swims," said senior captain Hogg.
The Owls dive back into the pool on November 21 against Springfield and Wheaton at 1 p.m.
