Framingham State Sneaks Past Women's Soccer

FRAMINGHAM, Mass. - The Keene State women's soccer program suffered its second loss of the season in a road game against Framingham State on Wednesday afternoon.

  • Keene State will open Little East Conference play on Saturday, September 17th, as the Owls return to the Owl Athletic Complex to take on Western Connecticut State at 1 p.m. 
  • Framingham State will also play its first conference game of the year, when the Rams travel to Fitchburg State for a 3 p.m. start.  

Tale of the Tape 

  • The two teams now hold a total series of 15-4 with Keene State leading over Framingham State. Within the past five years, the Owls have led the series 3-2 over the Rams. 
  • Brittany Tolla, Nicole De Almeida, and Danielle Warhall all collected weekly honors from the Little East Conference. 
  • Keene State dominated with a 25-11 advantage in shots, including 16-2 in the second half, and held a 10-5 margin in shots on goal over Framingham State. 
  • Warhall made four stops, while Keyonzia Gagne-Lamoureux registered 10 saves on the contest. 

First Half Highlights

  • An early chance came in the fifth minute for the Owls, as Taylor Farland collected a through ball and forced a corner kick, which resulted in Gagne-Lamoureux grabbing an easy ball in the box. 
  • The Rams struck first in the 20th minute after Kayla Almstrom fed a ball to the feet of Jana Paecht, who hit the ball low in the left corner, right out of Warhall's reach.  
  • Keene State had a chance to tie it up a minute later after a Framingham State foul, but the free kick from Farland hit the crossbar. 

Second Half Highlights 

  • In the 51st minute, the Owls had a goal scoring opportunity when a ball sent into the box was picked up by Patricia Norton. Norton's first shot was blocked and the second was stoppe by Gagne-Lamoureux. 
  • The Rams had a chance to double their lead in the 76st minute, but the shot by Melissa Sybertz was saved by Warhall. 
  • In the 77th and 78th minute, Farland, Norton and Gretchen Greene each produced significant shots, but it was not enough as the Owls fell short in the matchup.
