How It Happened
Most of the first half was played in the midfield area, as neither team could get their offense rolling. The first shot of the game came at 11:40 into the first half as a Salve Regina's shot sailed wide. Keene State would not get a shot off until the 17:43 marker, but Victoria Reynold's attempt went wide. The two sides would alternate shots on goal until halftime, as the two teams would head into the intermission with a combined six shots in the first 45 minutes.
Coming out of the break, the Owls flocked to the offensive zone. Nicole DeAlmedia rifled a shot in the opening minutes of the second half, but her shot went high. Following a save by Shelby Offord for the Owls, KSC went back on the attack. Keene State had the next six shots over a 10-minute stretch, including a Jordyn Abasciano shot which riccocheted off the crossbar in the 57th minute. Salve Regina would turn the momentum in their favor, as McMakin found the back of the net for the Seahawks. The senior was able to hit the top left corner of the cage from roughly 25 yards out. McMakin added a second goal five minutes later, as she sent a high chip shot over Offord to make it 2-0 Salve Regina.
Following the second Salve goal, Keene State went on the all-out attack as the Owls fired five straight shots, but the rally was not enough as they could not capitalize.
