CORTLAND, N.Y. – The Keene State College women's volleyball team opened the 2018 season with a pair of wins at the Red Dragon Classic, defeating host SUNY Cortland 3-2 (18-25, 26-24, 25-15, 19-25, 15-13) before sweeping D'Youville College 3-0 (25-15, 25-21, 25-10) on Friday evening at Corey Gym.

How It Happened

Keene State, which is coming off a 24-6 season a year ago, has now won 26 of their last 32 matches overall.   Megan Palmer had 19 kills and 16 digs in the opening match against the Red Dragons, while Riley Bunker had 21 digs and served up three aces, and Bailey Wilson ran the offense to the tune of 45 assists and a pair of aces.  KSC fell behind after losing the first set but responded by winning the next two.  Cortland took the fourth set, forcing a decisive fifth, which the Owls took 15-13.

The Owls dominated the evening's second matchup against D'Youville, winning two of the three sets by at least 10 points.  Palmer had 11 more kills for KSC, who had at least one from ten different people.  Wilson had 23 assists, three service aces and two digs, while Bunker had 15 more digs.  Nina Dias chipped in 11 assists and three digs.  The Owls hit .264 in the match while holding D'Youville to .000.
