KEENE N.H. - Maggie Vogt scored nearly four minutes into the second overtime to break a scoreless tie and the Keene State College women's soccer team picked up their second straight win, beating Eastern Connecticut State University 1-0 in Little East action Saturday afternoon at Dr. Ron Butcher Field.

How It Happened

The first half of the contest saw KSC outshoot the Warriors 7-3, but ECSU goalkeeper Alexis Tyrrell made five stops, including two in the opening ten minutes to keep the Owls off the board.  Victoria Reynolds and Patricia Norton had chances about a minute apart with just under 15 to go until the break, but Tyrrell made a pair of saves.  Her counterpart, KSC keeper Abbie Terrinca batted away three shots on goal by the Warriors in the first half, including Sierra DeCarli's try at the 40:50 mark.

The second half would see even fewer chances, with just two shots for each side. Terrinca saved a bid from Linnea Reich just under five minutes into the stanza, while Tyrrell denied Reynolds twice more in the 61st and 65th minutes.  Over the final 25 minutes, there was only one shot taken, and it was sent high by the visitors' Haley Montesanto at the 84:47 mark.  The Warriors had four corners in the second half to KSC's two, but neither team scored and the Owls played extra soccer for the first time this year.

The overtime periods were not much different, with each team's defense holding the other to just one shot over the opening 10 minutes.  Montesanto created a chance just 1:27 in, but Terrinca came up with a save on a ball headed for the top left corner.  Keene State had an opportunity a little over a minute later, but Reynolds' shot was wide of the net. 

The Owls made it count in the second overtime, as they would create more of an attack and end the game on the only shot of the period.  A foul was committed by ECSU in the 104th minute, leading to a free kick from 25 yards out.  Alex Kennedy quickly took it and passed it off to the left, where Vogt took three dribbles in and sailed a shot over everybody, eventually ending up in the top right corner of the net, sending the Owls to their second conference victory.  It is her second goal of the season, as she also scored against Salve Regina (her first career goal), and both came from long distance.

Terrinca (3-2-0) picked up the win for Keene State after making five stops.  Tyrrell (0-2) stopped seven of eight shots for ECSU, but took the loss.

Inside the Box

• After not recording a shutout over the season's first ten games, KSC has now blanked back-to-back opponents after blowing past Framingham State 8-0 on Wednesday.
• The clean sheet is Terrinca's first of the season and first since September 20, 2017 in a 1-0 win over Westfield State.
• Keene State is 17-15-2 in the all-time series, but had not beaten the Warriors since 2015 when they upset top-seed ECSU 2-1 in the LEC tournament semifinals as the No. 5 seed.  The last three meetings between the two teams at Owl Athletic Complex have been decided by 1-0 scores.
• Western Connecticut State University and UMass-Boston currently pace the conference with 12 points each, but spots three through six are separated by just three points.
