KEENE, N.H. - Murdock (Mass.), Smithfield (R.I.) B, Mamaroneck (N.Y.), and Keene all advanced to the championship games on the second day of the annual Noyes Volkswagen Holiday Basketball Tournament as eight more contests were played Saturday at Spaulding Gymnasium on the campus of Keene State College.  Murdock and Mamaroneck will both be looking to defend their respective titles in the White and Red Division tomorrow evening, while Keene will try for their third Red Division title and Smithfield their first crown in the White Division.

White Division:  Fall Mountain vs. Mount Royal

Mount Royal finished the game on a 28-10 surge over the final 15 minutes and went on to beat Fall Mountain 48-31 in a White Division consolation game Saturday morning.  The Wildcats, who shot 26%, trailed for the entirety of the first half before taking their first and only lead of the game (21-20) at the 7:32 mark of the third quarter.  MRA made 9-of-23 shots from the field in the second half, including 45% in the fourth quarter, to retake control, outscoring FMRHS 28-12.  The Knights were led by Andrew Normandin's 14 points, eight rebounds and six steals, while Sam Hebert (11 points) and Louis Larosiliere (10 points) were also in double-figures.  Fall Mountain's leading scorer was Alex Flynn, who finished with eight points (4-8 FG) and eight rebounds.

White Division:  Hinsdale vs. Wilton

Hinsdale's Dylan Harden posted a big 21-point, 20-rebound double-double to help his team race past Wilton 67-34 in the second meeting between the two teams already this season.  The Pacers led just 9-7 after one, but then outscored the Warriors 18-8 in the second quarter to go up 27-15 at the break and eventually led by as many as 33 in the second half while making 16-of-29 shots from the floor.  Hinsdale, who also got 16 points from Arth Patel, had a 56-35 advantage on the glass.  Wilton was led by Jack Schwab's 18-point effort.  Kyler Tremblay had 15.

Red Division:  Coe-Brown vs. Wells (Maine)

Wells (Maine) scored 16 consecutive points spanning the first and second quarters to expand a four-point lead to 20 (24-4) and was in control throughout while posting a 52-39 win over Coe-Brown in the Red Division.  The Warriors, who shot 10-for-19 from the floor in the middle two frames, were led by Caleb Corey's 15 points.  Gavyn Leighton added 12 points on 5-of-10 shooting to go along with 10 rebounds.  Nate Chandler also scored 12 (5-7 FG).  Coe-Brown's leading scorer was Cole Hodgdon with eight points.

Red Division:  Monadnock vs. Conant

In a rematch of a double overtime game a few weeks ago, Conant outscored Monadnock 22-13 in the final eight minutes to post a 62-48 victory.  Colson Seppala made 9-of-13 from the field and 3-of-5 from three to score a team-leading 21 points for the Orioles.  Connor Hart added 11 points and eight rebounds for Conant, who shot 65% (15-for-23) after halftime while scoring 35 of their 62 points.  CHS also made 7-of-14 from long range in the game compared to Monadnock's 3-for-13.  Nate Doyle led the Huskies with 14 points (7-13 FG).  Kevin Putnam and Jake Kidney recorded 13.  Conant shot 47% for the game and outrebounded Monadnock 40-30.

White Division:  Sunapee vs. Murdock (Mass.)

Murdock's LJ Hicks became the all-time leading scorer in school history as the Blue Devils poured in 95 points in a 95-59 win over Sunapee to return to the White Division championship game a year after winning it.  Hicks tallied 34 points on 13-of-25 shooting to go along with five assists, three rebounds and three steals, and his team shot 58% (38-of-65) from the field overall and at least 57% in every quarter.  Luis Maldonado added 25 points while making 11 of 14 shots, eight assists and six rebounds.  Kevin Pesce rounded out the double-figure scorers with 16 points (6-11 FG, 4-9 3-PT).  Sunapee was led by Jordan Chappell's 23 points and eight rebounds, but made just 2-of-15 from three as a team.

White Division:  Smithfield (R.I.) B vs. Newport

Smithfield B raced out to a 38-16 halftime lead, including a 20-6 second quarter burst, and went on to down Newport 62-40 in the other White Division semifinal.  The Sentinels made 17-of-35 from the floor in the opening 16 minutes and outscored the Tigers 23-7 off turnovers en route to the victory.  Joshua LeHane led Smithfield's offense with 10 points.  The Sentinels got 30 points from their bench.  Chase Hamilton had 12 points and five rebounds for Newport.  46 of Smithfield's 62 points came in the paint.

Red Division:  Mamaroneck (N.Y.) vs. Smithfield (R.I.)

Mamaroneck (N.Y.) used a 22-0 run, including a 15-0 second quarter, to gain separation and went on to trounce Smithfield (R.I.) 67-45 to advance to the Red Division championship for the third consecutive year.  The Tigers, who shot 51% in the game and outrebounded the Sentinels 41-24, won the title a year ago with a 63-45 victory over Conant.  Will Webb tallied 20 points on 5-of-9 shooting from the floor and 9-of-10 from the charity stripe to lead Mamaroneck.  Thomas Plunkett added 15 and Ryan McIntyre 13.  Charlie Randall grabbed a game-high 13 boards.  Smithfield received 19 points (7-13 FG, 3-7 3-PT) from Justin Tedeschi, but were hurt by 31% shooting from the floor and 9-of-18 at the foul line.  Matthew Lasalandra had 14 points.

Red Division:  Keene vs. ConVal

Keene moved on to the Red Division title game for the first time since 2016 after a strong third quarter guided the way to a 60-44 win over ConVal.  The Blackbirds, who got an efficient 16-point, 11-rebound double-double from Noah Timmer on 7-of-12 shooting led 26-22 at halftime before using an 18-7 third quarter burst to lead 44-29 entering the fourth.  The Cougars chipped away, scoring six consecutive points to get the deficit back to single digits, but could not get any closer, as KHS pulled away again after that.  Liam Johnston also helped Keene's cause, making 6-of-9 to score 12 points while adding eight rebounds and six assists for Keene.  Quinn Grover had 11.  Mather Kipka (13 points), Connor Buffum (11) and Isaiah Michaels (10) all reached double-digits for CVRHS, but the Cougars were outrebounded 41-24 and went 7-of-17 at the charity stripe.
