Mullen Nets First Two Career Goals

KEENE, N.H.--Freshman Michael Mullen netted a pair of goals as the Keene State College men's soccer team wrapped up their non-conference schedule with a resounding 5-1 win over Worcester State University at Dr. Ron Butcher Field on Wednesday night.

Records
  • Keene State: 6-7-3
  • Worcester State: 3-9-1

How it Happened

Keene State got on the board in the 14th minute, as Denis Fleming played in Clinton Mungeta, who beat Worcester State goalie Andy Ramirez to the far post for his third goal of the season.  Mullen then netted his first career marker when he controlled a pass from Vance Bates to score in the 30th minute.

Bates had the next opportunity to get on the scoresheet, when he received a pass from Declan Coughlin and fired past Dylan Ruberti from an acute angle.   KSC would add another just before halftime, as Ruberti's goal kick was headed back towards goal by Mario Santos, and Mullen ran on to the ball and chipped it over Ruberti from 20 yards out.

The Lancers did break up the shutout courtesy of a KSC own goal in the 57th minute, but the Owls responded with a goal from Nicholas Dalesio, who scored from a perfect pass from Fleming.

Nate Howard played the first half and was not required to make a save.  Gavin Fitzpatrick came on for the second half and made a pair of stops.

Inside the Box
  • Dalesio kept up his hot scoring with his 71st minute goal.   The sophomore forward has netted for the sixth time in eight games.
  • It was the third time this season the Owls have scored at least five goals in a game.
