High-Scoring Offense Powers Women’s Soccer to 5-0 Victory

KEENE, N.H. – Junior midfielder Elizabeth Kopicko scored two goals as four different players scored at least one goal in a 5-0 win for Keene State College women's soccer over New England College Thursday at Dr. Ron Butcher Field.

How it Happened
Kopicko began the scoring at 19:39 after receiving a pass in front of the net in the box from senior midfielder Kayleigh Marshall. Kopicko then kicked the ball into the net for her eighth goal of the season.
 
The scoring continued at 27:53 when junior Kendall Healey scored her first goal of the season to make it 2-0. Less than a minute later at 28:28, freshman midfielder Christina Sanders scored her third goal of the season to extend the Owls' lead to 3-0. Kopicko then added her second goal of the night at 39:08 to give KSC a 4-0 lead heading into halftime.
 
Marshall provided the final goal of the night for the Owls at 56:48. Keene State's defense would ultimately shut down the New England College offense to one shot on goal.
 
Inside the Box
  • Keene State now has a record of 2-0 against New England College. The other match between the two schools happened on Sept. 2, 2009, which Keene State also won 5-0.
  • This is the third game this season where Kopicko scored at least two goals. The other two games were against Elms College on Sept. 17 (two goals) and Husson University on Sept. 18 (three goals).
  • The five goals are the most scored by the Owls in a game since April 8, 2020, when Keene State defeated Rhode Island College 6-2.

Keene State will return to Little East Conference play when it travels to take on the University of Southern Maine on Saturday, Oct. 22 at 1 p.m. New England College will host Mitchell College on Saturday at 4 p.m.
