Capaldo Finishes Sixth At KSC's First Ever LEC Championship

Owls Sixth Overall

ELLINGTON, Conn.--Freshman Caden Capaldo finished sixth overall with a second consecutive 79 as the Keene State College men's golf team finished in sixth place at the 2022 Little East Conference Championships at Ellington Ridge Country Club.

Capaldo was three shots better than his first day score on the front nine, carding seven pars on the first nine holes, and was also at par from holes 11-15.

Ethan Doherty finished in a tie for 23rd, with an 89 on day two, with five pars.  Cade Williams and Sean McCaffrey finished tied for 25th, each shooting a 93 today.  Williams had six pars and McCaffrey had four.    Colin O'Brien was 28th overall, with five pars, shooting 94.

"It was great to be a part of the LEC championship in our first year as a varsity sport," said KSC head coach Dr. Jeff Timmer. "Although we did not reach our team goals for the championship, it was the first step in our process to be very competitive in future years."

Eastern Connecticut State University won its second consecutive conference championship and received an automatic bid to the 2023 NCAA Division III Championships, held at Keene Trace Golf Club in Nicholasville, Ky., in May 2023.   The Warriors' Ashton Lewis second a second round 74 to earn individual medalist honors for the second year in a row.
