KEENE, N.H. -- Freshman Rex Maccarini tallied five goals to lead 13 different Owls in scoring as the Keene State College men's lacrosse team defeated the University of Southern Maine 28-11 at the Owl Athletic Complex Saturday evening.

How It Happened
Six different Owls scored in the first quarter to see an early lead against the Huskies. Junior midfielder Nathan Sickles put Keene State on the scoreboard with two unassisted goals in the first five minutes of action. Maccarini set up Cooper Cioffi and then tallied his own goal for the Owls. Colby Quiet, Shane Molloy, and Joe Nutting scored a goal apiece and Maccarini netted his second goal of the game. Senior goalkeeper Chase Chamberlin only allowed one goal in the period to lead the Owls 8-1.
Keene State Maccarini opened up the second quarter the same way he finished the first, with a goal. The Huskies netted two goals, but the Owls did not let up, scoring eight straight. Nutting tallied three and Quiet scored two, while Sickles, Brendan DiSilva, and Cioffi each netted one goal apiece to lead the Owls 17-3 after the first half.
Keene State continued their offensive attack in the third period, outscoring the Huskies 8-5. Maccarini netted a pair of goals assisted by Ben Wright. Wright and DiSilva tallied a goal apiece. Owen Leadley, Connor Woods, Nicholas Mason, and Krantz Medeus each tallied their first career goals for the Owls in the third quarter. The Owls led 25-8 heading into the final period.
The Owls and Huskies went 3-3 in the final period. Tim Kelleher netted his first and second career goals, and Woods concluded the scoring for Keene State with his second goal of the game with a final score 28-11.
