WESTFIELD, Mass. – First year
Madison Mousley shot an 86 that included a birdie on the 18th hole as she finished sixth in a field of 50 golfers at the Northeast Women's Golf Conference Fall Classic on Sunday at the Tekoa Country Club.
Her score was nine strokes from individual medalist Ellie Yarbrough of Suffolk University, who shot a 77, and only five from second place Ella Torsleff (also of Suffolk), who finished with an 81. The Rams had the top four golfers, all finishing between a 77 and an 83. Yarbrough notched 10 bars and one birdie in the winning effort. State University of New York at Geneseo's Jillian Draper carded an 85 to finish in fifth, one shot ahead of Mousley.
KSC, competing as an independent at this event, also got scores of 98 from
Jodi Mercier and 99 from
Bianca Bostwick, both of whom also improved on their Saturday scores at the same course.
"The women played really well this weekend," said Owls head coach Jeff Timmer. "Saturday was a tough day for many reasons, weather and circumstances, and they persevered. Sunday was a great day for the team. All three scores were excellent accomplishments, and I am proud of them to play so well on the second day of a back-to-back 18 hole rounds."
Mousley parred No. 2, No. 4, No. 5, No. 7, No. 11 prior to her birdie on No. 18.
