PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Following the conclusion of the first Little East Conference championship for women's golf that saw the Owls take home the championship, it was recently announced that Keene State College's head coach,
Jeff Timmer, was named the first LEC Coach of the Year for 2025.
"It is an honor to be voted COY and I am humbled by the award. However, it is more important to me that the women are the first ever LEC Champions," said Timmer. "It is such a great historical memory that we can carry with us as a team forever."
In the Owls' fourth year as a program and first in the LEC, Timmer helped lead the Owls to some of their best finished in the program's short time since starting. Across the Owls' eight rounds of golf scored over the fall 2025 season, KSC averaged a score of 368.75. Coming into the season with a previous best of 388 at the KSC Invitational, in the fall of 2024, KSC beat that mark in every round this year, including a new record to open the year of 360 at the Westfield State Invitational, and once again beating it in the final round of the LEC championship with a final round of 359.
Timmer has coached the Owls to huge improvements over the first four years of the program, which include huge rounds by their top three golfers at the 2025 LEC Championships. Junior
Madison Mousley finished second at the event by just one stroke to earn an All-LEC First Team selection. Freshman
Sadie Murray also earned an All-LEC First Team selection, along with being named the LEC Rookie of the Year.
Abby Weiterman rounded out the Owls' big three with an All-LEC Second Team selection as well, by making a big improvement over the second day of action.
"I want to thank this year's team for really working hard nearly every day to get better. Their hard work is the reason why we are celebrating," said Timmer. "I also want to thank all of the women and men who have played golf at KSC, I have enjoyed every moment of the last four seasons because of the players. Finally, it is a privilege to be the KSC Golf Coach, and I am excited for the future and hopefully more championship memories."
The LEC women's golf season wrapped up at the LEC championships, but the Owls will still have other competitions in the spring! Congrats, Coach!
