GORHAM, Maine – The Keene State College men's lacrosse team scored at least five goals in each of the first three quarters in Saturday's 19-10 win over the University of Southern Maine at Hannaford Field. The victory extended the Owls' winning streak to four games.

How it Happened
It only took 50 seconds into the game for the Owls to take the lead, when sophomore attacker
Rex Maccarini took a pass from senior midfielder
Nathan Sickles and fired in the opening goal of the game. A different name found the back of the net at 9:19 in the first quarter, as senior midfielder
Michael Sheridan scored his first goal of the season to make it 2-0 KSC. It was the third goal of Sheridan's collegiate career.
The Huskies got on the board with a goal by senior attacker Nick James to make it a 2-1 game at 8:18. The Owls responded with three unanswered goals from Sickles, senior attacker
Cooper Cioffi and Maccarini. Southern Maine would get one more goal from junior attacker Schuyler Wetmore to make it 5-2 heading into the second quarter.
Wetmore opened the scoring in the second quarter to make it a 5-3 lead for the Owls. Junior attacker
Andrew Miller, who was recently named an Owl Athlete of the Week, continued his strong season with an unassisted goal at 12:15. Two straight Southern Maine goals brought the Huskies back within one at 6-5 with 8:03 remaining in the half. It was the closest the Huskies got to catching the Owls.
From then on, Keene State scored seven unanswered goals between the second and third quarters. Three came from Miller, two from Maccarini, one from Cioffi with the Owls up a man, and one from junior midfielder
Colby Quiet. Southern Maine ended its scoring drought with a tally by Wetmore to make it 13-6 at 5:08 in the third. The Owls would go on to get goals from Cioffi, Miller, freshman midfielder
Sebastian Foresi, and freshman attacker
Gabe Pereira. Pereira's goal was the first of his collegiate career.
USM while the Huskies got one more strike from senior attacker Omar Contreras, as Keene State entered the fourth quarter up 17-7. Maccarini provided two insurance goals for the Owls in the fourth, while the KSC defense held its own, allowing three goals in the last 15 minutes to pick up the win.

- Keene State has an all-time record of 22-1 against Southern Maine, with the Owls having won the last 22 games dating back to 2002.
- The win puts the Owls over the .500 for the first time this season.
- Keene State set season-high marks in shots (65) and shots on goal (40).
- Maccarini finished with 11 points (six goals, five assists), the most from any Keene State player this season. The East Longmeadow, Mass., native also ranks 11th in the LEC with 33 points.
