Postgame Interview (Matt Schmidt)

How it Happened
One of the Owls' seniors, Giacomo Sinopoli looked to score first in the contest, as he got recorded the first shot attempt at the 11:57 mark in the game, but USM's goalkeeper, Aldo Bryant, saved the shot to keep the game scoreless early on. Later in the half, the Owls' defense blocked a pair of shots from the Huskies to deny them a chance to get on the board. The final 10 minutes of the half saw some of the most action throughout the opening 45 minutes of play, as following a yellow card to Samir Sayed of USM at the 35:11 mark, the Huskies tried to take a lead heading into the half, but Regan Racicot denied Brian Balch the goal. At the 38:12 mark in the opening half, play was stopped as #2 for each team, Jack Corby for KSC, and Liam Conneely for USM were each given red cards and both teams were forced to play the rest of the way with 10 players on the field. KSC's corner kick in the final minute of the half did not result in a scoring opportunity, as the game went into the game scoreless at the half.

KSC's attack outshot USM 5-0 in the opening 25 minutes of the second half, but none of the Owls' shots found the back of the net. After Bryant saved the first of the five, coming from Caleb Harmon, the Huskies' defense blocked the next pair of shot attempts. Alex Nicolas tried to fire a shot past Bryant, but he made a save on the fourth of the five shots and Sinopoli's next shot went wide of the target to round out the five attempts. After Nicolas had another great look on a shot at the 77:56 mark of the game, Bryant saved the shot and the Huskies flipped the field quickly, as they took the ball the other way. 47 seconds after Bryant's save, Colin Albert weaved through Owl defenders and got a shot off, past Racicots' diving arms, and into the back of the net to put the Huskies up 1-0 with 11:13 left to play. The rest of the contest, the Owls applied pressure as much as they could, but between the Huskies killing the clock and KSC being unable to record a shot on goal, USM came out in the end with a 1-0 win over the Owls.
