BANGOR, Maine – The Keene State College women's soccer team played in their second game of their back-to-back games in Maine on Sunday afternoon, as they took on Husson University for their final regular season away game of 2024. After Husson scored one goal in the first half and a quick one to open the second half, KSC was unable to comeback, as the Eagles defeated the Owls, 5-1.

Records
  • Keene State: 5-10-2 (1-5-1 LEC)
  • Husson: 8-7-1 (6-1-1 NAC)

How it Happened

Husson's attack was busy early as the Eagles offense took five shots over the first 10 minutes of play. Although there was a large quantity of shots early on, the quality was not as great, as none were on goal; the Owls' defense blocked a pair of shots, while the remaining three were off target. The Owls' first shot in the contest came in the 12th minute, as Giuliana Stolfi got a shot on goal, but the Eagles' goalkeeper, Hannah Kenney, saved the attempt to keep the contest scoreless early on. Over the next 15 minutes, Husson got a pair of shots on goal, but KSC's goalkeeper, Riley Andriski, saved both shots. In the 35th minute, Husson got on the board first, as Natalie Aviolla netted her ninth goal of the season, to put HU up 1-0. Andriski added one more save in the final 10 minutes of the half, limiting the Eagles' lead to one at the half.

Following a goalkeeper change at the half that saw Hannah Verville enter the net for the final 45 minutes of play, Husson took a shot following a corner kick, 1:25 into the corner, and it wound up in the back of the net, from Mackenzie Lambert's fourth goal of the season. The Owls tried to pull within a goal shortly after, but the shots from each Elizabeth Tschudin and Isabella Moran were both saved by Kenney to preserve the shutout in the 57th minute. After the next two shots from the Eagles after their goal went wide, Verville saved their next shot on goal, coming in the 67th minute. Unfortunately for the Owls, Husson tacked on their third goal in the 72nd minute, as Rylee Speed put the Eagles up by three. At the 81:27 mark of the contest, KSC's Riley Devine was fouled in the Eagles' box by Kendra Donahue, which led to Isabella Moran scoring a penalty kick goal for the Owls in their first attempt of the season. In the closing minutes, the Eagles closed the Owls out with two more goals, coming from Kate Harriman and then an own goal, that had bounced off the Owls' defender and into the back of the net, which gave Husson the 5-1 win on the day.
