MIDDLEBURY, Vt. – The Keene State College men's soccer team traveled to take on No. 5 Middlebury College on Wednesday afternoon, looking to upset a nationally ranked team for the 18th time in program history. After the Owls got within a goal in the second half, Middlebury pulled away and scored three more goals, for the 5-1 win over KSC.

How it Happened
Middlebury dominated the first half, as they outshot the Owls, 16-1, including 12-0 in shots on goal in the opening 45 minutes of play. The Panthers recorded 11 shots to open the contest in the opening 29:34, as the Owls defense blocked three of the shots and even made a team save, to combine with six saves from KSC goalkeeper,
Regan Racicot (and one shot that went wide) to prevent Middlebury from scoring early on. Although for the Panthers, Gavin Randolph shot a rebound into the back of the net past Racicot, to put Middlebury up 1-0 with 15:25 remaining in the first half. KSC had their only shot attempt 1:12 later as
Owen Candito tried to tie the game up at one apiece, but his shot went wide of the net to preserve Middlebury's lead. The Panthers added another goal on their next shot, with 4:57 remaining in the half, as Keagan Harder scored following a throw in from Ari Klayman to put MID up a pair. Racicot made three saves in net through the remainder of the opening half, to limit Middlebury to a 2-0 lead heading into the half.
The first shot attempt of the second half came from the Owls (which was their only shot in the second), as 6:29 into the half,
Caleb Harmon scored shortly following a KSC free kick. KSC made three more saves, two coming from Racicot and the other coming from the defense over the next 16 minutes, but Harder was able to bury another goal for the Panthers to increase their lead back to a pair. Both teams traded possessions as the game started to come to a close, but KSC was unable to come close to MID again, as the Panthers added a pair of goals in the final 2:54 of play, one from each Malik Simms and Will Swain, to give No. 5 Middlebury the 5-1 win over KSC.
