How it Happened
The Owls' attack was firing early and often as KSC recorded four shots over the opening 13 minutes of action. In the 20th minute, the Owls had their best chance early on in the contest as a pass was sent across the Eagles' box and
Bryn Dickinson had an opportunity to put the Owls ahead with an open goal, but the shot rang off the crossbar and the game remained scoreless for the moment. After the Owls' goalkeeper,
Riley Andriski, made a pair of saves, KSC finally found the back of the net on the other side of the field as
Eleanor Leland tallied her first career collegiate point by sending a pass out ahead to
Elizabeth Tschudin who sent a shot past Madison Weigler to put the Owls up 1-0 in the 25th minute. HU tried to draw even a few minutes later, but Andriski made another save before KSC tacked on their second goal of the day in the 34th minute. Weigler made the initial save on a breakaway on
Keely Giordano, preventing her from her first collegiate goal, but the ball rebounded out wide to
Mikayla Ryan who sent the shot deep into the back of the net to put the Owls up a pair. The Eagles' corner kick as the half came to an end didn't amount to anything as KSC took their 2-0 lead into the second half.
Both teams traded possessions back-and-forth over the start of the second half, but it wasn't until the 71st minute where a team found the back of the net. This time it was Olivia Charles for the Eagles as she sent a one timer off a corner kick into the back of the Owls net to cut the lead in half. In the 84th minute the Owls responded as Tschudin scored her second of the game with Ryan getting the assist to put the Owls back ahead with little remaining on the clock. The Eagles did not go away though as they struck right back shortly after with another goal 1:22 later on an accidental own goal by the Owls with 5:25 remaining. Luckily for the Owls, Giordano put the final nail in the coffin with 3:56 remaining as a Husson miscue led to Giordano having a wide-open goal for her first career collegiate goal to put KSC up 4-2 and to pick up the third win in a row.
