How it Happened
The Owls' attack tried to open the scoring only three minutes into the contest, but
Jack DiGiovanni's shot was saved by the Huskies' goalkeeper, Gabe Wagner. Neither team recorded another shot on goal for the next 12 minutes until Jack Brady weaved through the Owls defense and sent a shot just inside the near right post to take a 1-0 lead for USM. The remainder of the opening half, the Owls got two more shots off, but they were both blocked by the Huskies and after USM's two shots went wide, both teams went into the half with USM ahead by one.
KSC attack opened the second half with four shots over the first 20 minutes of the second half, but Wagner made three more saves, combined with another blocked shot to not allow the Owls to not draw even with 25 minutes remaining. Wagner tallied another save in goal shortly after, but the Owls responded with a blocked shot on defense a few minutes later. USM was able to respond by doing the same by blocking a pair of shots from the Owls over a two-minute span as the clock started to count to under 10 minutes remaining. The rest of the way, the Owls attack was unable to get going as the Huskies held onto the 1-0 victory over KSC.
