How it Happened
Dylan Florian saved the first two shots that he saved in net for the Owls over the first three minutes, but he was unable to save the third as Drew Bouley netted his first goal of the game to put WIT up 1-0. KSC tied the game up shortly after, as
Dylan Seymour assisted
Adam Scala on the freshman's second goal of the season to draw even for the Owls. Florian made two saves in a row a minute later, but just as the quarter started, he was unable to save the third as Brendan Kroll gave WIT the lead once again with 8:40 on the clock. KSC responded quickly once again as Seymour caused a turnover after WIT won the ensuing faceoff and then scored a goal minute later to tie the game up once again. Neither team netted a goal the remaining 7:38 of the opening quarter, as Florian added another save, along with WIT's goalkeeper, Tom Gardner making three more as both goalies finished the opening quarter with five saves apiece.
Dryden Fisher collected the ground ball on the opening faceoff of the second quarter, which led to WIT taking the lead just 16 seconds later as he netted a goal to put WIT back up once again. Neither team scored over the next 10:59 of play as Gardner made four saves in net, including one on a KSC man-up opportunity. Over the same span, Florian held his ground as he made seven saves in a row, also including one on a WIT man-up opportunity. KSC evened the game up with 3:45 left in the quarter as
Rex Maccarini scored his team-leading seventh goal on the year, but WIT came right back and retook the lead just 25 seconds later as Kobi Buffa scored his first of the year for the Leopards. Each goalkeeper added another save in the closing seconds as WIT took a 4-3 lead into the second half.
KSC started the third quarter on a man-up advantage after a penalty on WIT to end the first half, but they were unable to draw even, as WIT scored just 1:04 into the second half with Bouley scoring his second goal on the day. Florian saved the next shot from the Leopards shortly after, but with 9:12 left in the quarter, Erik Vogt netted another WIT goal to double up the Owls. Richard Roy netted another goal for WIT at the 5:27 mark in the third, but WIT was unable to take advantage of two one-minute man-up opportunities over the next few minutes. In the final 1:22 of the quarter, WIT added three more goals, as Vogt scored the first, followed by a man-up goal from Jared Hiller with 25 seconds remaining. Following Hiller's goal, KSC was called for another penalty and WIT started the ensuing possession with the ball and took advantage right away as Bouley scored his third goal of the day for a man-up goal to give WIT a 10-3 lead heading into the final 15 minutes of play.
Hiller added his second goal of the game to open the scoring in the final quarter, 3:20 into it. 3:37 later, WIT added another goal after Tyler Longo scored a man-up goal for the 12th goal of the day for the Leopards. KSC killed off another one-minute penalty later in the quarter, but Kroll added another goal with 1:46 remaining as Wentworth increased their lead to ten. Gardner made saves on the first five shots from the Owls in the quarter, but Seymour sent a shot past him in the closing seconds to make the final score 13-4 as the time expired.
