Andriski Moves Up Record Books as Owls Lock Down Lancers

WORCESTER, Mass. – Riley Andriski moved up the career record books for the Keene State College women's soccer team on Thursday night as her and her defense locked down the Worcester State University Lancers for a 0-0 draw.

Records
  • Keene State: 2-3-3 (0-0-1 LEC)
  • Worcester State: 4-1-1 (2-0 MASCAC)

How it Happened

Elizabeth Tschudin opened the attack for the Owls just under seven minutes into the contest, but the Lancers' goalkeeper, Ella Gumienny, saved her shot to keep KSC from taking an early lead. Over the next 12 minutes, the Lancers were on the attack, but they were inefficient with their opportunities as three of their shots missed the target and the other was blocked by the Owls' defense. Shortly after, just over the halfway mark of the opening half, both goalkeepers held their ground with a save apiece as Gumienny made her second of the game and Riley Andriski, the Owls' goalkeeper, made career save number 199 as she inched closer to becoming the tenth keeper in program history to surpass 200 career saves. It did not take much longer for Andriski to reach the milestone as she made a pair of saves in the final 12 minutes of the half as she held off the Lancers' two chances late in the first to keep the contest tied heading into the half.

WSU started the second half just as they ended the first by peppering Andriski in net, but she held her ground, stopping all three of the Lancers' four shots that reached the target to hold the game scoreless with 35 minutes remaining. Soon after the Lancers opened the half on the attack, KSC responded with a pair of shots on target, but Gumienny made a save on each Allison Kenyon and Kylie Rapoza to once again keep the Owls off the board. Neither team had another shot on target until there was under 15 minutes remaining as Andriski made save number seven on the day to tie Samantha Hirsh (2005, 07-09) with 205 career saves for the eighth-most in program history for KSC. Gumienny made one more save, this time coming on Marissa McCarney with seven minutes left to keep the game scoreless going into the final moments. In the final few minutes of the game, Andriski moved into sole possession of the eighth-most saves in program history as she recorded her eighth save of the game to ice the game and keep it a 0-0 draw on the day.

"It was a great team effort against a good 4-1 team today" said Owls' head coach Sarah Testo. "Lots of great play by many players. We put a very good 90 minutes together."
