Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Tschudin Nets Tying Goal as Owls Pick Up Third LEC Point of the Season

BOSTON, Mass. – 13 minutes is all that the Beacons would lead for as Elizabeth Tschudin drew even for the Keene State College women's soccer team in the 67th minute and the Owls would eventually draw the University of Massachusetts-Boston 1-1 on Saturday afternoon.

Records
  • Keene State: 2-4-5 (0-0-2 LEC)
  • UMass-Boston: 4-3-2 (0-1-1 CNE)

How it Happened

The Owls' attack was pressuring the Beacons' goalkeeper Janiya Matier early in the contest but of KSC's five shots over the opening 20 minutes, Matier saved the two that were on target for her first two of seven saves for UMB on the day. KSC's next four shots over the following 10 minutes were wide of the goal, while UMB got their first shot on target of the day that the Owls' goalkeeper, Riley Andriski, saved to keep the game scoreless 30 minutes in. The rest of the opening half, both goalkeepers each made another save while neither team was able to put it into the back of the net and the teams went into the half tied at 0-0.

Following Andriski making a save in the 48th minute to open the second half, Sophia Schallmo found the back of the net for UMB as the Beacons took the lead in the 54th minute on her sixth goal of the season. UMB's attack continued to pressure KSC over the next 11 minutes with six more shots, but Andriski limited the Beacons' lead as she saved both the shots that were on goal of the six. KSC was able to draw even shortly after as Emily O'Connell sent a pass far ahead into the Beacons' half of the field where Elizabeth Tschudin was able to send a rocket into the upper left corner of the goal past Matier for her third goal of the season. Eight minutes later, Tschudin tried to find the back of the goal again, but Matier was able to save the shot to keep the game tied at 1-1 for the moment. As both teams traded possessions back-and-forth over the remainder of the game, KSC had a pair of opportunities to take a lead in the final five minutes. Kylie Rapoza's shot with 4:03 remaining just missed the target and Bryn Dickinson's shot with under two minutes remaining was handled by Matier as the teams drew 1-1 for a point apiece in the LEC standings.
