How it Happened
Salem State started the scoring early on in the contest with a goal by Olivia Tednes 2:22 into the game as Aislinn Bennett and Lauren Bosworth both picked up assists. It did not take long for the Owls to respond right back as
Tabby Jones and
Loreli Norman assisted Emerson Spinali on a power play goal 2:21 later to tie the game back up at one apiece. After a scoreless second period, Norman and Spinale tallied their second points of the day as Spinale and
Grace Bazin assisted Norman for a shorthanded goal for her first career collegiate goal and KSC's first shorthanded goal of the season 9:58 into the third. It looked like the Owls would come away with the victory late in the third as the clock was winding down, but with 11 seconds remaining in the contest, Isabelle Besser tied the game up for the Lady Vikings to send the contest into overtime. On a 2-on-0 breakaway opportunity three minutes into overtime, Emma NcNeil tallied her second goal of the season and her first career collegiate game-winning goal as Maddie Desouza picked up the assist for the Owls to give KSC the 3-2 win.
