BOSTON, Mass. –
Ai Chung did what she could in net for the Keene State College women's ice hockey team by making 37 saves, but the Owls' attack was unable to get going as KSC fell to the University of Massachusetts-Boston 4-0 on Friday night in the first of two games in back-to-back days.

- UMass-Boston: 10-6-2 (6-4-1 LEC)
How it Happened
Chung was busy between the pipes over the first half of the opening period as she had to make 13 saves to keep the contest scoreless early in the contest. Over the next few minutes, the Beacons' goalie, Veronika Hadamovsky made three saves to do her part for UMB as the opening period started to move into the final few minutes of action before the first intermission. With 3:23 remaining in the first, the Owls had their first power play opportunity of the day, but it turned into the worst case possible as KSC did not score a goal, but the Beacons did as Emily Hansen scored a short-handed goal to put UMB ahead 51 seconds into the penalty kill. KSC recorded two shots on goal the remainder of the penalty, but Hadamovsky saved both and the Beacons headed into the first intermission up 1-0.
Chung made three saves in the opening 1:18 of the second period, but she was unable to control the rebound as Aisling McFadden found the back of the net to take the 2-0 lead early in the period. KSC tried to pull within a goal as they continued to apply the pressure over the next nine minutes, but Hadamovsky made three more saves. 10:35 into the second, UMB was called for another penalty, but Hadamovsky continued to hold strong with three saves to kill the penalty off. KSC was called for their first penalty of the day with under six minutes remaining in the second, but Chung made four saves to hold off the Beacons, along with two more the rest of the period to hold UMB's lead to two heading into the third.
The Owls opened the third on the power play 29 seconds into the period, but Chung was the goalie making the saves as she made two as for the third time on the day, KSC was unable to capitalize on the opportunity. KSC killed off a penalty of their own shortly after, but later in the third, UMB capitalized on another KSC penalty as Maggie Lynch scored a power play goal with under four minutes remaining in the contest to take a 3-0 lead. The final nail in the coffin for the Owls came on an empty net goal by UMB with under a minute remaining by Candence Kelly to take home the 4-0 win for the Beacons.
