Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Owls Play to 0-0 Draw with Anchorwomen on Senior Day

KEENE, N.H. – The Keene State College women's soccer team honored their Class of 2027 seniors on Senior Day as the Rhode Island College Anchorwomen traveled to the Owl Athletic Complex for an important Little East Conference matchup and after a defensive battle over the 90 minutes of action, neither team found the back of the net as both teams drew 0-0.

Records
  • Keene State: 4-5-3 (2-2-2 LEC)
  • Rhode Island College: 8-4-1 (3-1-1 LEC)

How it Happened

KSC recorded their first two chances of the day in the opening seven minutes, but a shot from two of the Owls' nine seniors, Emily O'Connell and Allison Kenyon both missed the target early on. Over the following 10 minutes the Anchorwomen had three shots of their own, but Michaela DiCiccio saved the one shot on frame from Amber Almeida to keep the contest scoreless early on. After neither team had a shot over the next 13 minutes, the Owls recorded five shots over the following 10 minutes, but Nicole Nines saved all three chances on frame over a 20 second span, keeping the Owls from finding the back of the net and sending the contest into the half tied 0-0.

The Anchorwomen looked to find the back of the net with a pair of chances in the first few minutes of the second half, but after their two corner kicks, a shot from each Isabella DiGioia and Leah Saunders missed the frame. Both teams traded another two shots that missed the target over the next 35 minutes before O'Connell tried to find the back of the net in the second consecutive game, but Nunes made the save in the 83rd minute for RIC. The Anchorwomen had another opportunity with two more corners in the closing minutes but after DiCiccio's save the Owls took it the other way hoping to capitalize before time ran out. With under 90 seconds remaining KSC sent the corner kick into the box, but Kaylee Cormier's shot went wide of the goal and the two teams played to the 0-0 draw, each earning a point in the LEC standings.

We wish the best of luck to the Owls' nine seniors, Kinsey Donegan, Bryn Dickinson, Claire Halligan, Allison Kenyon, Elizabeth Tschudin, Isabella Moran, Elise Saab, Emily O'Connell, and Paige Smith.
