How it Happened
Southern Maine outshot the Owls 5-2 in the opening half with their first two attempts missing the target within the opening 10 minutes. After both teams traded another shot that missed again, Liam Conneely attempted to get the Huskies on the board, but KSC's goalkeeper Tommaso Lorrai saved his shot on frame and the game remained scoreless in the 30th minute of action. The rest of the opening half each team saw another shot miss the target as the teams went into the half tied 0-0.

Both teams had their first corner kicks of the contest in the opening eight minutes of the second half, but they were unable to convert on the opportunities. USM continued to apply the pressure as over the opening 30 minutes of the second half they recorded five more shots, but Lorrai held his ground saving the only shot on frame of the five. Late in the contest the Owls were on the attack with a pair of corner kicks and four shots over eight minutes, but Gabe Wagner saved both shots on frame from Luke Belisle and Luke Hartshorn. Late in the contest with under a minute left Belisle was called for his second yellow card of the game, resulting in a red card, but with just nine seconds remaining, USM could not capitalize on it as the teams played to a 0-0 draw.
