How it Happened

KSC had their only shot of the opening half in the sixth minute of the contest as a yellow card on Sierra Jepson of USM resulted in a free kick for KSC, but Emily O'Connell's free kick missed the target high for the Owls. Both teams traded possessions over the next 25 minutes without a shot until USM had their first two shots of the game in the 32nd minute. With 6:04 remaining in the opening half the Huskies recorded their first shot on goal of the contest but KSC's goalkeeper Michaela DiCiccio denied Charley Baillie the scoring opportunity to keep the game scoreless tied heading into the half.

KSC found the back of the net just 40 seconds into the second half as Kaylee Cormier sent a pass into the Huskies' box and after a failed clear by a USM defender resulted in Kayla DiPasquale's first shot on goal of the season, which she made the most of by burying her first goal of the year to put KSC ahead 1-0. Four minutes later KSC tried to find the back of the net again, but this time McKenzie Vano saved Kylie Rapoza's shot to limit the Owls' lead to one. 10 minutes later the Huskies knotted the game up at one apiece as Lexi Morin scored her eighth goal of the season by chipping a shot over a charging DiCiccio out of the net. In the 66th minute DiCiccio bounced back with a save in net on Taryn Curry. Just three minutes later the Huskies struck again as USM sent the ball from midfield up and over the Owls' defense to Morin again where she took a touch around DiCiccio charging out of the net and found the back of the net for her second goal of the day. KSC's defense blocked the next two shots from the Huskies, but a foul was called in the Owls' box in the 75th minute leading to Ani Roberts converting the penalty kick to put USM ahead a pair. The rest of the way KSC was unable to find the target as a shot from each Elizabeth Tschudin and Keely Giordano missed the goal and the Owls were unable to claw back, falling to USM 3-1.
