How it Happened

More information to come soon

Jack Ricci won the opening faceoff of the contest for the Owls and the KSC immediately took advantage, scoring 40 seconds into play as Dylan Seymour assisted Jack Ansart for the opening goal of the game. Ricci continued to win the next two faceoffs as KSC tacked on another two goals over the next 1:39 as Jake Dubiel scored the Owls' second goal and Cole Ricardi assisted Seymour's first goal of the game to take the 3-0 lead. Ryan Cohen saved the next two shots in goal for the Vikings and SSU halted the Owls' momentum for the moment as Ryan Jones scored with 8:21 remaining to cut the lead to two. It didn't take long for KSC to respond as Seymour scored three goals over a minute and 22 seconds shortly after, with Ben Tukey and Adam Scala each adding an assist. The rest of the opening quarter Cohen added another two saves to limit the Owls' lead to five heading into the second.

Salem State started to chip away at the Owls' lead early in the first half of the opening quarter with a pair of goals to cut the lead to three, but KSC responded right back with Seymour assisting Ansart for a goal 51 seconds after the Vikings' second goal of the quarter to go up 7-3. With 4:30 remaining in the opening half Jones scored again for SSU to bring the lead to three once again but it did not last long as Caleb White assisted Ansart for a goal to go up 8-4 heading into the half for the Owls.

Seymour opened the scoring in the second half with a goal just 44 seconds into the quarter following Ricci's 15th faceoff win on the day, but the Vikings answered right back with a goal from Connor Vittands to cut the lead back to four. Both teams traded a goal again as the Owls continued to try to break away as Ethan Palma scored for KSC, but following Andrew Wiegand's save in goal, Juan Vidal picked up the rebound and scored for the Vikings to once again pull within four. The Owls were able to snap the streak of trading goals as Ansart and Seymour tallied another goal apiece, just 28 seconds apart, but the Vikings continued to linger as they scored two more goals the rest of the third, cutting KSC's lead to 12-8 heading into the fourth.

Cole Ricardi found the back of the net twice for the Owls in the fourth quarter for his first two goals at home on the season as he opened the scoring to put the Owls ahead 14-8 with 8:36 remaining. The rest of the contest was all KSC as Wiegand made a pair of saves and Dubiel found the back of the net again, followed by Ricardi assisting Nick Sullivan for his first collegiate goal in his first game as an Owl for the 16-8 victory.
