Four Owls Take Home Weekly LEC Awards

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Four Keene State College student-athletes were honored by the Little East Conference for their achievements accomplished for the week of April 6-12.

Baseball

Senior pitcher David Floyd (North Attleboro, Mass.) was named the LEC Pitcher of the Week from his dominant performance for the Owls in their game two win over the University of Southern Maine on Saturday. Floyd's start against the Huskies was the best by an Owls' starter so far this season as he went 7.0 shutout innings on the mound, while only allowing two hits and striking out six batters. With Floyd's 99 pitches over the seven innings, combined with Troy Brennan picking up the save, KSC bounced back in game two to take the crucial game against USM for the LEC standings.

Floyd and the Owls return to action back at home against Mitchell College on Tuesday, April 14, at 2:00 PM.

Men's Lacrosse

Junior defender Ty Cougler (Dover, N.H.) was named the LEC Defensive Player of the Week for the fourth time this season as he continued to terrorize opponents on both sides of the field for the Owls on the week. While locking down opponents on defense, Cougler collected 16 ground balls and caused 10 turnovers over the week, with game-highs of each nine ground balls and six caused turnovers against Western Connecticut State University and a team-high seven ground balls and game-high four caused turnovers in the 9-8 win over Plymouth State University. Cougler also recorded his 200th career ground ball in the win over PSU, becoming just the fourth member in program history to reach the milestone. In transition Cougler continued to rack up the goals as he recorded three goals over the two games, scoring his first of the week with a goal 18 seconds into the second half against WestConn, and followed it up with a pair of goals in the Owls' 9-8 win over PSU as he earned his first win against his brother at PSU after falling to the Panthers the previous two seasons.

Cougler and the Owls return to action on the road at Vermont State Castleton University on Wednesday, April 17, at 7:00 PM in the first of their last three games on the road to round out the 2026 regular season.

Women's Outdoor Track and Field

Senior multi athlete Molly Lu McKellar (Hebron, N.H.) was named the LEC Track Athlete of the Week from her record-setting performance for the Owls over her two days of competition. McKellar broke the previous school record in the heptathlon as she recorded 4,553 points for a third-place finish and the current 13th best mark in all of NCAA Division III, beating the previous record by 183 points. On Friday at the Tufts Spring Stampede McKellar started the weekend of competition with a strong performance in the shot put, winning the event with a new personal best mark of 12.80m, currently ranking the 40th-best mark in the country, winning the event by 1.09m. To go with her tied fourth place finish in the high jump (1.52m), McKellar placed fifth in all the other five events, with marks of 5.07m in the long jump, 31.48 in the javelin, 2:35.12 in the 800m, 15.26 in the 100m hurdles, and a new personal best of 27.46 in the 200m.

Freshman sprinter Elle MacDonald (New Hampton, N.H.) was named the LEC Rookie Track Athlete of the Week from her record-setting performance for the Owls at the Tufts Spring Stampede. After setting the school record in just the first outdoor competition of the season for the Owls, she followed it up by breaking her previous record of 25.96 in the 100m at the University of Massachusetts Lowell with a new school record of 25.38 in her second attempt running the event on the outdoor season.

McKellar, MacDonald, and the Owls return to action at the George Davis Invitational on Friday, April 18, at 2:30 PM for their final tune up before LECs on the following weekend.
