KEENE, N.H. - Sophomore outfielder
Derek Finlay was named to the All-Region Defensive Team when the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) recently announced their end of season award winners.
The sophomore enjoyed a breakout campaign with the Owls after transferring from the University of Albany, patrolling the outfield with a number of web gem catches and adding a .327 batting average and .907 OPS over 43 games, adding two triples, three home runs, and 36 RBI. The move to the outfield was something new for the Nashua, N.H. native, who was an infielder in a limited sample size after he returned from injury a season ago.
The teams across all 10 regions are voted on by members of the ABCA and the process is led by the ABCA NCAA Div. III All-America & Coach of the Year Committee.
Paul Hesse of the University of Mount Union serves as Chair of the ABCA NCAA Division III All-America & Coach of the Year Committee. Committee members also include Brian Casey (United States Coast Guard Academy), Pete Egbert (Misericordia University), Dan Gomez (Western New England University), Ray Hedrick (Randolph-Macon College), Luke Johnson (North Park University), Scott Laverty (Chapman University), Yogi Lutz (Alvernia University), Nick Pontari (SUNY Brockport), and Kevin Tomasiewicz (University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh).
Region All-Defensive selections were eligible for consideration for the 2026 ABCA/Rawlings Gold Glove Awards. Winners of the ABCA/Rawlings Gold Glove Awards in all divisions were announced on Wednesday, June 17.
About the ABCA
Founded in 1945, the American Baseball Coaches Association is the primary professional organization for baseball coaches at the amateur level. Its over 15,000 members represent all 50 states and 41 countries. Since its initial meeting of 27 college baseball coaches in June 1945, Association membership has broadened to include nine divisions: NCAA Division I, II and III, NAIA, NJCAA, Pacific Association Division, High School, Youth and Travel.
