PROVIDENCE, R.I. 10/13/01 - The Keene State College men's soccer
team extended its winning streak to five games and reMEd undefeated
in the Little East Conference with a 4-2 victory over host Rhode
Island College on Saturday KSC improves to 10-3 (4-0 LEC). RIC
falls to 2-9-2 (1-2-1 LEC).
Trailing 1-0, the Owls took a 2-1 lead on goals by Francisco
Vasconcelos and Casey Banks (Westborough, MA.) 90 seconds apart. It
was Bank's seventh goal this season.
Three minutes later Pete Ceprano put the Anchormen ahead 3-2.
But a goal by Jimmy Hogan (Holderness, NH), his first collegiate
tally, gave KSC a 3-2 half-time advantage.
John Harke (Leeds, MA.) scored an insurance goal in the second
half to complete the scoring.
Jason Lombardo, KSC's standout freshman striker, had to leave
the game in the first half with a pulled hamstring.
D.J. Normark (So. Windsor, CT) finished with eight saves for
KSC. Jason Nelson, making his first college start, also had eight
saves for RIC.
Keene State will be at Eastern CT, on Tuesday for a 4 p.m. LEC
game.
