WILLIMANTIC, CT- (10/16/01) Senior back Mark Bailey headed in a
corner kick from teammate John Cortese 12-minutes into the second
half to lead the Keene State College men's soccer team to a 1-0
Little East Conference win over Eastern Connecticut State
University on Tuesday. With the win, Keene State (11-3, 5-0 LEC)
remains unbeaten in the conference while ECSU falls to 4-12 overall
and 1-4 in the LEC. It was the sixth shutout of the season for the
Owls, ranked in a tie for fourth in New England.
Bailey scored on his only shot of the match on Keene's only
corner kick of the asecond half. He headed in Cortese's corner kick
inside the left post from six yards out. The Owls were playing
without freshman Jason Lombardo, the LEC's top scorer, who missed
the game with a pulled muscle.
D.J. Nordmark had two aves for KSC. Keene State returns home to
face Amhesrt College on Thursday (7 p.m.).
