KEENE, N.H.. 10/16/01 - Julia Neilson (Salisbury, CT) had two
goals to lead Eastern Connecticut State University to a 3-1 victory
over Keene State College in a Little East Conference women's soccer
game played Tuesday in Keene.
Ranked regionally, Keene State (13-4, 3-2 LEC) had its six game
winning streak snapped. Eastern CT improves to 11-3-1 (4-1-1 LEC).
Controlling midfield, the Warriors jump on the Owls with three
first half goals. Neilson put ECSU on top 1-0 when she was set up
in front by Jen Ferrari (Coventry, R.I.). Neilson second goal of
the game, and ninth of the season, came from a shot just inside the
near post. Erica Figueiredo (Hebron, CT) completed the first half
barrage with a blast to the far corner of the net.
Keene State got on the board seven minutes into the second half
when Sarah Nordle (Hooksett, NH) scored on a direct kick form
33-yards out.
Michelle Mason (Fairport, NY) had four saves for KSC. Stacey
Schofield (Woodstock, CT) finished the game with six saves for the
Warriors.
Keene State will host UMA-Boston on Thursday (4 p.m.).
