KEENE, N.H. 9/17/01 - Amy Lamson's (Bridgewater, MA.) goal with
1:15 left to play in regulation gave Keene State College a 1-0
women's soccer victory over Framingham State College at Owl Stadium
Complex on Monday.
Lamson was at the right place at the right time for her first
goal of the season. When FSC goalie Krisitna Kern (W. Barnstable,
MA.) came out of the net to get at a free kick ball, Lamson hit a
shot that deflected off a Ram defender into the goal. 'There was
mishap in front of the net and I just tried to fire it near the
goal,' said Lamson. 'It wasn't pretty, but it counts.'
Both teams had chances to win the game in the late stages of the
second half. With 14:30 to play, Megan Aucoin's (Higham, MA.)
direct kick was just deflected over the cross bar by Owl goalie
Michelle Mason (Fairport, NY). Celena Chickering's (Keene, NH) shot
just missed the far post with 2:10 to play.
Keene State also couldn't take advantage of 16 corner kick
opportunities.
Mason had four saves to notch her third shutout of the season.
Kern finished with 10 saves for FSC (2-4). Framingham State, which
has defeated the Owls in there past two meetings, has qualified for
the NCAA Tournament the past two years.
Keene State (5-1)will be at Westfield State (7 p.m.) on
Wednesday night
