WORCESTER, MA. 9/6/01 - Suzanne Heinkel (Westfield, N.J.) had
two goals to lead Keene State College to a non-conference 4-1
women's soccer victory over Clark University in Worcester, MA. on
Thursday. It was the third straight win for KSC (3-0). Clark falls
to 0-2.
The Owls jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the game. Sarah Nordle
(Hooksett, N.H.) gave KSC a 1-0 lead 10 minutes into the game when
her direct kick found the back of the net. Just over two minutes
later Heinkel netted her first tally of the night when she finished
off a crossing pass from Celena Chickering (Keene, N.H.). Heinkel
extended the Owls lead to 3-0, with her second goal with 10 minutes
remaining in the first half. Jen Ortisi (Allenstown, N.H.) had an
assist on the play. Freshman Melissa Bergeron's (Claremont, N.H.)
first collegiate goal late in the second half gave KSC a 4-0 lead.
Clarks' Kiley McGuire (Farmington, Me.) spoiled KSC's bid for a
third consecutive shutout when she scored late in the game.
Michelle Mason (Fairport, N.Y.) finished with eight saves for KSC.
Vita Giannone (Mattituck, N.Y.) had seven saves for the Cougars.
Keene State is off until next Tuesday when they return home to
face Framingham State in a 6 p.m. game at Owl Stadium Complex.
