Owls Blank Anna Maria 5-0

'KEENE, N.H. 10/31/02 - Erin Lester (Walpole, N.H.) had two goals to lead the Keene State College women's soccer team to a 5-0 non-conference victory over Anna Maria College on Thursday. 

 

It was the seventh straight win and the fourth consecutive shutout for the 25th ranked Owls (16-2-1).  Anna Maria (6-12) saw its two game winning streak come to an end.

 

Keene State scored all five goals in the first half. Lester scored two goals, her team-leading 14th and 15th of the season, in a span of two minutes to stake KSC to a quick 2-0 lead.  Jenna Jezierski (North Grosvenordale, CT), Katie Parkinson (Kingston, R.I.), and Kerri Paquette (Millbury, MA.) followed with goals later in the half.  Paquette's goal was the first of her career.  Colleen Antonini (Plymouth, MA.) had a pair of assists to tie the KSC season record of 12.  Laurie St. Pierre (1982) and Joy Rodrigo (1995) held the mark in their respective years.

 

Michelle Mason (Fairport, N.Y.) (one save) and Sarah Campbell (Auburn, MA.) (two saves) each played a half in goal for KSC.  Jen Turgeon (Worcester, MA.) made 13 saves for Anna Maria.

 

Playing in their final home regular-season game, seniors Amy Lamson (Bridgewater, MA.), Suzanne Heinkel (Westfield, N.J.), Sarah Nordle (Hooksett, N.H.), Carolyn Crawford (Abington, MA.), Aleisha Nelly (Guilford, CT) and Antonini were honored prior to the start of the game.

 

KSC completes its regular -season at UMA-Boston on Saturday (1 p.m.).
